I have absolutely the same problem. iPad was working perfectly and all of the sudden - it is not being recognized by any computer (Mac OS or Windows based). I cannot even charge it
I was told, that they will replace it pcs for pcs. Unfortunately - I live in Saudi Arabia so I am waiting for some official approval from apple to replace my one. I am just worried about all the purchased SW. I cannot transfer it to any computer.
Hope to get our problem resolved very soon!
