Magic Mouse suddenly stopped right-clicking and scrolling

My magic mouse just suddenly stopped being able to right-click and scroll after several months. Also does not pick up my multi-touch gestures like side swiping. Tracking and left-clicking is perfectly fine.

My mouse system preferences have the secondary click and scroll enabled. I've restarted my computer, turned the bluetooth on and off, taken out the batteries and put them back into the mouse. Is my mouse defective? Help!

I've been having the same problem with the Magic Mouse on my iMac for about a month. I've never had usb overdrive installed. I did have a wacom tablet intstalled, but removing all the wacom files didn't solve the problem. I took the Magic Mouse that I use with my MacBook Pro and paired it with the iMac and it worked just fine. So I have two Magic Mice paired with the machine. One scrolls and right clicks just fine, the other doesn't.

I'm headed down to the Apple Store to get a replacement for the one that doesn't work.

Went to the Apple store where they quickly confirmed my Magic Mouse right click and gesture operations didn't work on their machine.

Definitely a hardware failure within the Magic Mouse. One of my friends that works at the Apple Store confirmed that I'm not the only one with Magic Mouse hardware problems...

I came home with a replacement Magic Mouse, turned it on, paired it with the computer, and all now works perfectly!

An easy way to check to see if you have mouse hardware or computer software problems is to borrow a working magic mouse from a friend and try it on your computer or take your questionable magic mouse and use it on a friends computer. If the friend's mouse works on your computer or if your mouse works on your friend's computer then you probably have a defective Magic Mouse. If your friend's mouse doesn't work on your computer, then you probably have a problem on your computer such as the USB Overdrive conflict or possibly a conflict with older Wacom Tablet software.

I have a similar problem: the symptoms are the same, but when I reboot the Mac it solves. The problem is that I always leave the iMac on and so I need to reboot it every 2 days because of the mouse has this symptoms (I don't have any other USB Overdrive or tablet.. only Apple bluetooth magic mouse and keyboard).
Do anyone has my same problem and/or can help me, please?
Thanks very much!

Wierd how this is happening to people around the same time the Java update was released. This just happened to me. Worked fine, then all of a suden stopped scrolling. So is this apple's way to make people buy a new mouse? Release a java update with some code in it to disable the magic mouse scrolling, then you brick it and people have to buy a new one...

- I can connect, but only use it as a one button mouse. So now I have to buy a new mouse? This stinks.

You might need to set your mouse as a bluetooth 'Favorite'. Try this -

  1. Go into System Preferences/Bluetooth.
  2. In the left pane, select Apple Wireless Mouse
  3. Beneath the left pane are '+', '-' and a dropdown menu. Open the drop down menu and click on 'Add to Favorites'.

Also, in the Bluetooth Prefs, make sure the boxes marked as "On" and "Discoverable" are ticked too.

My mouse stoped working (scrolling and right clicking) after my recent Safari update.

But I can say that my right click was freakin' out in the last week. Changed bateries, worked better.

But right after update... Can't scrolled and/or Right Click

I don't have USB Overdrive application installed

Tries everything above but changing my mouse!

Thanks
