The info given here already is good and the best way to do it, especially if you are transferring several photos. But here is another way that doesn't require using iTunes, synch, or cables, etc. You can simply send an email from your computer (using any email program you choose) with the photo as an attachment, and send it to your iCloud email. It will appear there & you can access it from there or you can click the little arrow on the toolbar below the photo and select 'save image'. This will store it with your other photos, on Camera Roll, etc.It sounds complicated but it's actually easier than the other ways, but mainly for single pics.

Is there a way to do this without having to install Itunes? I recently got an Iphone 7+ and wanted to copy. I plugged it into my Win10 computer and see only one folder. I can't seem to copy to this folder. I do not want to install Itunes.
Yeah, I learned that lesson. For some reason, the Icloud was on and I didn't notice it. I much prefer the secure OneDrive For Business. I have yet to find where the file storage on the Iphone is. Decent device, but needs a filesystem app. I noticed this is coming on Ios 11, which will be louder, than 10.
You can also download "Rollit, photo transfer app" available on the App Store. Really easy way to transfer photos and videos without installing any Mac or PC software and no needed to use iTunes synchronization. Here's the link : https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rollit-photo-transfer-app/id741790426?l=fr&ls=1& mt=8
Totally agree. For those who want to sync some photos, email is enough. But in order to transfer photos from PC to iPhon, iTunes is a good option.
1. Select the iPhone in Devices section of iTunes. Click the "Photos" tab.
2. Click the "Sync Photos From" check box and then select an application or folder from the drop-down menu beside it. Click "Apply" and then click "Sync."
3. Open the application or folder you chose to view the photos after they have been imported from the iPhone.

You can transfer these photos with iTunes which is really easy and practical way to sync your computer data with your iPhone. In the first way, you can choose photos and select sync. In the other way, you can select "files"> "add file to library or add folder to library" in file option. You just need to follow the steps as the screen shown, and transferring pictures from desktop to iPhone can be achieved.

How many pictures? You could email them to yourself, install Dropbox, use iCloud Drive, and no doubt many other workarounds.

Please note that auto sync photos to iCloud must be turned off.
