My Macbook will not recognize my Nokia CS-18 USB Internet Stick

We are in Chile. We recently purchased a Nokia Internet Stick from Movistar so that we could access the internet from our property. The thing works great on my wife's Dell but for some odd reason, it is not recognized by my Mac. It does show up on my system profile as a USB device but it is not recognized by the Finder as a device when it is plugged in. When I go to Network under System Preferences it does shows the Nokia Datacards but the status is not connected and i have not been able to figure out how to change it. Movistar's tech support is not Mac savvy. I also looked in Nokia's website for missing drivers, none were to be found. I also downloaded the demo Launch2net Premium from Nova Media but it did not resolve the problem. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)
