Oh, great news! The OWC On the go pro BOOTS fine under the USB 2.0 port.. Strange how the WD mybook wouldn't work with one USB port, but all I did was hook up the external OWC drive to my powerbook and low and behold.. USB mounts and works!!

So, not all drives are created equal it seems, and based on this it seems my PB G4 likes the OWC drive under USB.. but of course you are right that Firewire is the best option for Intel and PowerPC macs.. I just like to play around with my mac and get to know it better..

I'd figure that the OWC on the go pro external USB3,USB2,FW400,FW800 would work.

Oh, the WD Mybook DID mount and disk utility allowed me to format the drive and use it, but it wasn't completely reliable though, but the drive did mount using the USB 2.0 port next to my power adapter.. The mAH for the drive was 500, the port also was 500.

Depending entirely on what drive is mounted inside the enclosure. But for the umpteenth time, romko, you've hijacked another thread to air your obsession with USB booting, when the original poster only has USB 1.1 ports and would have to be insane to boot his machine via USB. So please back off, and stop broadcasting your obsession where it has no relevance or utility.
