Iphone Lost, Want Access to Puchased Content

I had an Iphone that was lost this weekend. The computer I originally used to set up the phone recently died and therefore I was purchasing music directly from the Iphone. Now that my Iphone is gone and my computer died, I got a new computer that I just authorized with Itunes. My history of purchases with Itunes is documented, isn't there a way to just import the songs that were purchased on Itunes onto my new computer? Neither the phone nor old laptop where originally bought all the content are available, but I figured there must be a way to login to Itunes under my account name, and just import all the material that was purchased through Itunes. I am not seeing how to do that.

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications. You're expected to make backup copies to your computer (and then backups of the content there as well) in case something goes wrong with your iPhone or you lose it, as unfortunately happened in your case. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places. This is why people generally advise against running an iOS device without a computer, though I recognize that your computer failed recently.

For apps, look here for instructions on redownloading. For songs, movies, and videos, if you don't have a backup of your purchased items, you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your content. You can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". You'll find either an "Express Lane" button - just follow the instructions to get to the contact form - or an "Email Us" button) ") and explaining what happened. Reportedly in some cases Apple has allowed redownloading on a one-time basis. But don't count on it.

Thanks for the reply. Wow, that's frustrating. I bought two CDs the day I lost the phone. I thought you owned the content once it was purchased...it's not like they don't have a record of what I purchased. I don't see why they can't allow me to download it on another computer, but I'm sure there's a good reason.
