I currently have an Ipod Touch 3rd generation 8 gig and I'm going to get a 4th generation 8 gig. What should I sell my 3rd generation for? It just turned 1 year old this month and is in great condition. It has minor scratches on the back but a cover will cover them up. What should I put the price as?

Go to a site such as eBay, look for recently completed auctions of that item in similar condition, and use those as guidelines.

First of all there is no such thing as a 3rd generation 8GB iPod Touch...

You need to do some research before selling and false advertising a product that never existed....

The only 3rd generation models were 32GB and 64GB models.

Here are the specs on the 32GB and the 64GB 3rd generation models which comes directly from Apple.

You most likely have a 2nd generation 8GB iPod Touch and you would do better advertising it as such.
Look on the back of your iPod Touch for these numbers to verify what model and generation you have.

    iPod Touch 1st generation - A1213

    iPod Touch 2nd generation - A1288

    iPod Touch 3rd generation - A1318

    iPod Touch 4th generation - A1367

    Good Luck with your sale.

Christ yeah! Even my old iPod Colour that I acquired in December '05 has 20GB! What have you got - an Apple fingernail?!?

PS. I'm joking, of course. No offence intended.

    Actually Joseph,

I believe there is such a thing. Mainly because I have one. Also, several websites indicate there is one. Those website include Apple's. Please see this site (http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/ipod).

Please read below as well: Please note the original date of September 2009.

Before you go making accusations, check your facts.

The statement: "Refurbished iPod touch, 8GB (previous generation)" does not say it is a 3G model. It just says it is not a the current 4G model. When Apple introduced the 3G model in Sept 09 they continued to sell the 8 GB 2G model with the same iOS as the 3G models.

    I do know the facts.

Apple never sold or advertised an 8GB 3rd generation iPod Touch.
    There is NO SUCH THING........

So, you don't own one and can't own one.

Here are the factual numbers directly from Apple.
Check the back of your iPod Touch for these numbers and then tell us what generation you have.
Then you will also know the facts.

    iPod Touch 1st generation - A1213

    iPod Touch 2nd generation - A1288

    iPod Touch 3rd generation - A1318

    iPod Touch 4th generation - A1367

Also read these facts online at Apple.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353#iPodtouchlate2009

The 2nd generation cannot run the newest iOS 4.3 so you cannot update your iPod Touch.
We need to stop this rumors and people like you spreading this rumors so other people don't get confused like yourself. Thinking they have a 3rd generation when in fact they DO NOT.....
You have a 2nd generation 8GB iPod Touch......

Hope this helps to stop these rumors.......
