My family has 4 iPhones and an iPad. Find my iPhone works really well on three of them. When I use it on my first generation iPhone using the up to date OS and my MobileMe account, the phone shows a location several hundred miles away. This is also occurring with the iPhone map software. It is on a Pay as you go contract with O2 and occurs on Wireless or on the Pay as go. As far as I am aware, all the settings are correct. I can get it to play a sound etc from the Find my Iphone app. Any guidance very much appreciated. Phil

The first generation of iPhone didn't have GPS to the best of my knowledge.

The original did have Assisted GPS just like the current iPhone. Here are the specs:http://www.apple-history.com/Try resetting the iPhone (Press and hold the Home button and the Wake / Sleep button until the Apple logo appears on the screen).
Thank you for the prompt and helpful responses. The solution (as of now) was to restore the phone to factory settings and update and then it finally worked. Fingers crossed that it keep working!! In the past it had shown the correct location for a few minutes and then dashed off a few hundred miles!
