What CD & DVD brand works best with my mac?

There's no Mac-specific DVD brand. Go with trusted names such as Verbatim (my personal choice) and TDK. Avoid store brands and no-name specials.

Purchase a good drive cleaning disc. Cleaning kits can be purchased from any store that sells CD/DVDs. Use it every 3 months or so on your drive if you do a lot of burning.
It is also a good idea to repair permissions & restart your computer after each burning session.

I don't believe I've ever had a failed burn with Fuji CDs (and I can't speak for any other brand as I've never had any reason to try another brand).

The exact same thing holds true for my experience with Maxell DVDs. I have no reason nor desire to try another brand (and if I did, it would be Verbatim).

I believe Taiyo Yuden is one of the best out there. Do a web search for reviews with its name. You very likely will have to buy it online and have it shipped. I think they are the actual manufacturer for some of the other better recommended brands which then sell under their own name.

Agreed. Exactly as stated as far as Fuji CDs are concerned last time I bought them. Some brands also sell what appears to be the same TY disc, but it's really made by someone else and is not the same quality. With Fuji CDs, it used to be that you could tell by the small white foam donut on top of a spindle which marked it as TY. I don't know if that is still true.

I've only recently started feeling the "need" for dual layer DVDs and have not tried any brand. I've kind of been watching sales for Verbatim DLs based on my research. Do you have any experience with/recommendations for DL DVDs? Thanks 😉

Last year I caught a great sale on Verbatim DL DVD at Target (in store). I used them to make bootable disc copies of my OSes, DiskWarror & Techtool Pro to take w/me on my travels. No coasters to date. The bootable DL discs works just as good as the originals if not better. That was the only time I've ever used Verbatim DVDs.
