Changing Apple ID on my iPhone

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out how to change the apple ID associated with my iphone. The phone was initially a gift that my ex registered with her account info. Now, I can't update apps without it asking for that particular password and using her account information. I believe she has an iphone now with the same apple ID, so I don't want to screw around with anything. I tried to associate the iphone with my own information in My Account, by registering the serial number of the iphone, but it does not appear to have switched to my account info. Any insight would be great!

Thanks.

If you had bothered to read the thread, you would realize that changing the iTunes Sign-in is not going to help resolve the issue of purchases made under the previous Apple ID asking for the password to that Apple ID in order to update.

There are only two ways to deal with that issue:

1. Find out the passcode to the other Apple ID and use it when those apps need to be updated

2. Delete all of the apps that were purchased or downloaded by the previous Apple ID, and re-purchase or redownload them if they were free with the new ID signed into the iTunes & App Store

Hi,

It's probably advisable to Restore it as a New Phone…

Make sure your Computer is Connected to the Internet.

Connect the iPhone to iTunes… Click on the phone when it shows up… and then Click on Restore and let it do it's thing…

This could take a while… anywhere up to an hour… depending on your Internet Speed. But be patient & best not to interrupt it.

When it's finished it will give you a choice to either Restore from a Backup or Restore as New… Chose Restore as New…

A few minutes later you should have an iPhone that thinks it has just come out of the Box with the Latest iOS 4 2 1

More Details here on Restoring:

And Here's a Link to the iPhone User Guide:

Hope this Helps,

Cheers 🙂

Go to Settings/Store and log out. Then log in with a different Apple ID.

This discussion has already really helped me. My Mom (91 and not very tech savvy) and I both have a brand new iphone 4s.

After syncing both our phones to my macbook iTunes, I found that my Mom's iphone had my Apple ID on it. Using the method described here in this thread, I was able to log out on her phone and log in to her new Apple ID account. So all is well.

My concern is that if I sync her phone again to my iTunes, it may overwrite her Apple ID again. This should not happen because I understand iTunes treats each iphone separately but I want to be sure.

If anyone here has knowledge about this, please post a response asap. I want to sync my mom's iphone once again before i leave on Thurs to go back to California.

Sincerely,

Howard
