how to remove login password?

Question

how to remove login password?

I know my password, but I really have no need of it for security at login anymore. I can't figure out how to have it startup without requiring it. How do I get rid of it?

iMac 24", Mac OS X (10.6.6), 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

So I have this same issue where I have changed all settings (in Security & Privacy and User & Groups) not to require a login but I still get prompted for a login after waking up from sleep and after restarts. I am on OS 10.12.6. Anybody have any further ideas?

Just choose your account, if there are more than one - otherwise the choice is only between your account and 'off' (i.e. requiring a login).

System Preferences > Accounts
Unlock the lock (authentication reqd)
Click on "login options"
Change the status of "Automatic Login" from the drop-down.

In this case go to Sys Pref--> Security --> General, and make sure the box is not checked for ☑ *Disable automatic Log-in* .

system prefs, accounts, select your account, change password, enter the old password, leave the new password space blank

That's how I have mine set (though I have three other accounts) and it logs me in automatically with no problem. Try setting it off and rebooting, log in, then set it back to your name again and see what happens.

To disable my password, I did all these things but mine (after I put my old password) for new password says you need yo put something. I don't know how to disable my password. Any ideas?
