Question

Wireless USB Adapter??

Okay so I have an iBook G3 500Mhz with Mac OS X 10.3.9. The airport device is broken on it. I would like to know what other options I have for using this iBook on wireless internet. I was thinking of using a USB Wireless adapter, but do any of you know which one would be compatible with it.
Your help is much appreciated.

Be sure that whichever one you choose will work with the USB 1.1 ports on the iBook G3 and Mac OS X 10.3. (You may have to read the fine print to determine this.)

Is the AirPort Card slot the problem? Or the Card itself? Replacement original AirPort Cards can be found.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply. The airport slot is broken. I know this because I have bought two airport cards and it still doesn't work. It must be either the slot or something with the antenna because it doesn't recognize any WiFi connections. So would any of the ones you sent in the link work or would I have to make sure it said 1.1 USB? Thanks again!

To be sure that it works, it should say USB 1.1 somewhere in the ad copy or the technical specifications.

I didn't look at all of them, but the first one listed

says "USB 2.0/1.1 port on a Mac running OS X 10.3.9 and later," so that one, at least, should work for you, since that means it will work with either a USB 2.0 port or a USB 1.1 port.

i've been using a lot of resources and forums latley and decided to try to give some carma back. just got older g5 ppc 1.8 mgz on os 10.5.8 up using a " d link DWA 125 " usb adapter . look on their site under supportas you may have to go to 10.4 if you can as it may be the minimum os, but the adapter is fairly cheap ( 25 can). hope this helps
