Why is my FIREFOX Slow/to open pages..slow to advance..?

Why is my FIREFOX Slow/to open pages..slow to advance..?

I have either Firefox 8 or 9..and there is no related UPDATE" or anything for my system; 10.4.11 I don't know what to do; the pages advance slowly..it is SLOW to turn a page..slow to close even. Should I get 'rid of my Firefox and re-upload new? My Safari has not a problem like this. The Firefox just 'hesitates annoyingly. I just put in a new hard drive like 10 months ago; I don't know what is the problem. thx in advance!

Mac PRO Intel, Mac OS X (10.4.11)

Hmmmm, my Firefox is at 3.6.13, is that not what you're at?

Have you cleared it's caches?

Well, my Firefox is 3.6:8 and well, isn't clearing Caches' going to CLEAN my whole history of bookmarks and all?? I'm worried; I cannot get those back; and history of everything else?

No, clearing the cache does none of those things.

Firefox > Tools > Clear Recent History... > just check "cache"
