Reducing KB size of multiple photos

This isn't really an iPhoto question, but if I have a file of photos that are all
2.5KB each or whatever and I want to reduce them all by half, is there a way to do this other than photo by photo?

Make a workflow with Automator?

Many editors will do batch operations - Graphic Coverter is one that springs to mind.
