Reader email not going to default email client

Reader email not going to default email client

If I open up an article in 'Reader' in safari, then go to 'Mail this page' it opens up in the OSX Mail program. I use 'Sparrow' and have set this up as the default email client (I know this as I can go to the file menu and 'Mail link to this page' and it will use 'Sparrow' client. Is this a bug in Safari?

Hi,

Quit Safari (Command + Q)

Open the Mac Mail app then from the menu bar click Mail / Preferences then select the General tab.

Make sure: *Default email* reader is set to Sparrow

Relaunch Safari.

Thanks for the help but I do have sparrow as the default email as it works when I go to 'mail link to this page' in Safari (I also double checked in mail what the default mail client was).

I've also noticed this problem in 'Preview' application - it ignores the default mail client. I suspect this is a bug/problem in OsX.

I too am having this issue. Sparrow is set as the default mail app - but when I send an invoice from Billings - it opens up Mail.app. I'm at a loss to know what to do next. Must be a bug?

I have found the same problem but in preview and not in Safari (v5.0.4). I have yet to try other apps.
Let's hope it gets solved.

+1 Same issue, any resolve?

Also has anyone had issues with Sparrow in which all of your applications close as if they were force quit?

Yeah, I'm interested in finding out an answer for this as well. I'm thinking it can't be changed. From what I've read people who use Entourage are complaining of the same thing. There has to be a solution. What happens if I uninstall mail completely?

There is no solution. The menu item is hard-coded to use Apple Mail. You can't change it.
