I can walk up to any desktop computer and easily sign into my mobile me account.

When I try to sign in using my wife's iPhone I am presented with a blank screen. The usual boxes where you enter your username and password are not there at all.

I was doing this as a test, to see if I could really figure out what restaurant I left my iPhone in.

I don't have a paid subscription to MobileMe so I've never tried to login from my iPhone using the browser but if you want to track one iPhone from another iPhone you can do so with the Find My iPhone app available in the App Store.

That will not run on my wife's older iPhone OS.

If I CAN login to mobile me from a desktop computer, why can't I login using the Internet on an iPhone? I mean, what's the difference?

    Ziatron,

Just tried it on my iPhone 4 & was only given the option to install the application or access data stored in MobileMe. Looking at the reviews for the app, some users have mentioned that workarounds do exist to get Find My iPhone working on an older phone, so perhaps Google will have something to offer you?

Otherwise, it's time to send feedback to Apple!

I wasn't able to get to a login page from my iPhone either.

The Find My iPhone App, which is only used to find an iPhone that has the Find My iPhone service on it should run on older versions of iOS. The Find My iPhone service itself needs to be activated on an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.

The "find my phone" service works perfectly when I log into any desktop computer. I established the service on my iPhone 4.

But I am unable to login using the Internet from another iPhone.

Have you tried installing the app on the older iPhone?

Are you using a paid Mobile Me account or did you sign up for a free one just for the Find my iPhone service?

You cannot login to MobileMe from an iOS device.

    Can't OS is to old.

The free one, works GREAT on ANY Windows PC, on my Mac Pro, on my Macbook.

When I go to "me.com" on the wife's iPhone using Safari, I am taken to some kind of a “installer page” even though I clearly tap on "sign in" from the Google search results. I have tried several other choices as well I'm always taken to where I don't want to go.

When using the iPhone, I never get to that simple screen where you "sign in".

Using the iPhone I typed "http://www.me.com/" directly into the address bar. Still doesn't work. That same address works perfectly on any desktop PC or Mac.

Have you tried?? Do you get an error when installing the app or does it not run? As I stated in an earlier post the Find My iPhone app is not the same as the Find My iPhone service. The app allows you to find an iPhone that has the Find My iPhone service installed and should run on an iPhone with an older version of iOS. Humor me and see if the app will install.

OK, I think I found the answer, for some strange reason you cannot use the Internet on iPhone to find an iPhone.

One MUST install the "Find My iPhone" App which requires iPhone 4. (I am trying to do this with an iPhone 3GS.)

    * To locate a lost iOS device from another device: Download the Find My iPhone app for free from the App Store and sign in.

    * To locate a lost iOS device from a computer: Go to me.com with a web browser (such as Safari) and sign in. If you have a MobileMe paid subscription, choose Find My iPhone from the App Switcher (cloud icon) after signing in to me.com. If you have a free MobileMe account, you will automatically be signed in to Find My iPhone.

I pulled out my son's old iPhone 3G running iOS 3.1.3, charged it up and installed the Find My iPhone app successfully via WiFi. I was able to launch the app and locate my iPhone 4, my son's iPhone 4 and my son's iPhone 3GS, which was activated on my iPhone 4 and then set up on his iPhone 3GS.

As I said several posts ago the Find My iPhone app should (now I know it works) run on an older iPhone with an older version of iOS.
