Buying new screen for my ipod touch

I'm Ipod touch user and i live in Egypt. My Ipod touch screen was broken and today i went to 3 Apple branches to replace my broken screen with a new screen and all of them said that it's very hard to replace a broken screen for ipod touch and we don't get this accessories.
I wonder how can i buy a product from a company like Apple, and finally i can't find accessories for my product and i can't find the customer support. It means that when i buy an Apple product, if any of it's accessories was broken for some reason, then i have to put it away and buy a new product. UN BELIEVABLE from a company like Apple

You can buy touchscreens on the internet; use google and plug in your iPod generation and the word "tocuhscreen."

That only cures half the issue. You then have to get it installed. There's directions for that online as well.

and do you mean that i can buy this touch screen from any company and not just from Apple? and is it easy to remove the old screen and replace it with the new one??

But how can i know that the broken element is the digitizer and not the main screen?

What generation iPod do you have? What part of the screen is broken? If you can see items on the screen but the touching it does not work then it is the digitizer. The site I referred to has the 3G LCD and digitizer as one unit.

Ipod touch second Generation. I can see the items normally and the touch is working normally so it is the digitizer. The problem is that i'm living in Egypt and i don't know if there are any websites that make shipping to Egypt. Apple branches here are really bad and don't provide digitizers.
