Time Machine/Time Capsule fail error 60

Time Machine/Time Capsule fail error 60

Hi

New to Mac so please bear with me 🙂

Just purchased a 27inc iMac and a 1TB time capsule.

When I setup Time Machine, it sees the Time capsule and starts backing up, but after about 20 mins it errors out saying can't right and error 60

I can see time capsule via network and even copy a file to the data store

Any ideas?

Sorry, I don't know the error numbers, just the words.

See #C2 in [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of the +Time Machine+ forum).

It will show you how to locate the message(s) that describe the problem, then help you fix it. If that doesn't help, post back with details, including all the messages, your setup, what you've done, and the results.

Helen,

Go into System Preferences, then Security, then Firewall --> Firewall Options.

From here Add Time Capsule to the list of allowed network connections.

It sorted my problem when i got the error 60 message.

(Also stop your computer going to sleep/locking out - i did that at the same time!)

I'm looking for the answer to the error 60 also, but when I try to follow your suggestion, I don't see a way to add Time Capsule to the list of allowed network connections. Time Machine was an option but not time capsule. Any ideas?
