I'm working on a book, and I've successfully cropped and otherwise edited photos for placement. However, the one thing I can't figure out how to do is to resize (I mean dimensions, not file space) photos to fit the frames. When I place the photos, it is as if they are actual size, and possibly only a head appears within the frame in the book. Sometimes I would like to be able to place larger photos in smaller frames to have multiple pictures per page, but I would like the entire photo (a rescaled version) to appear in the frame, not one aspect of the photo.
Your question is not clear - photos automatically fill the frame which is in a 4:3 ratio - if the photo is a different ratio then some of it will be cut off but in at lease one dimension the entire photo will be there -- if you are not seeing this A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.
Ideally I would like a "size to fit" option.
Right click on a photo (in most theme) and select fit to frame to eliminate cropping and use white space fill
Short of that, I'd like to be able manually to adjust the size of the photos to fit the frames. Is this possible?? I haven't been able to figure out how to do it.
You also can use the zoom and pan controls above each selected photo to control what part of the photo is showing in the frame
