Books icon disappeared from iTunes Library

I have a lot of Audible books, which appear to have moved to a tab on the bottom of the Playlists section. I also have some other books in MP3 format. I imported them into iTunes, then renamed the book files from *.m4a to *.m4b. They were showing up in a Books tab under Libraries, as were my Audible books. All of a sudden, my Libraries doesn't show a Books entry. It shows only Music, Movies, TV shows, Podcasts, and Radio. Where did my Books tab go? I synced the iPod and the books -- which were already on it -- did not get erased, but I can't find them in my iTunes any more. (They also don't appear as Music.)

I am having a similar problem. After a recent update to Itunes on my Mac, the Books icon has disappeared under the Library. I checked in the Itunes preferences, and the Books checkbox is still selected. I have tried turning most the checkboxes off, which turned off those items, then tried turning them all back on. Everything turned on except for the Books icon, again.

My audiobooks are still there because syncing them continues to work on my Ipad and Iphone. I can also add new books to the library and sync without problems. So, Itunes is definitely seeing and locating these books. I just cannot view them anywhere to delete/remove them from my Library once I have finished them. So, I'm creating a real mess on my computer with no way to remove old books as syncing always copies them back.

I've tried searching for them in the other sections (Music, Movies, etc.), but no luck there either. Is there anything else I might be missing? Thanks again!
