iPhone 4 - Verizon - unable to connect to work wireless network

I have no problem connecting to my home network but at work I am unable to. My iPhone discovers the wireless network no problem but when I enter the security password it is unable to connect and says "incorrect password". I have confirmed that the password I am entering is correct and have tried connecting several times with the same result. Does anybody have any ideas why I might be having this problem?

I also have the same issue when trying to connect with my iPod Touch 3rd Gen.

When I open the wireless properties on my laptop it shows:

Security Type: No Authentication (Open)
Encryption Type: WEP
Network Security Key: xxxxxxxx
Key Index: 1

When I first connected to the wireless network with my work laptop I had no issues. It discovered the network and the network password worked and connected right away

Try entering the WEP hex key, not the actual password.

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by the WEP hex password. Could you tell me where I could find that?

OK, lets try this first, before getting into hex keys and converting to ASCII. When entering your pass-phrase, put a " $ " sign before the phrase(minus the quotes). See what happens. The simple fact is that iOS devices to not like to play with WEP.

Go here:

Put your passphrase in the ASCII box, hit the convert to hex button(remove any entries that might be shown first!). Now, take that hex key, remove all the "%" marks or ":" that appear. That's your hex key. Put "0x" in front of that key. Enter that in your password field. See if doing this will let you connect.

Did you try doing this AFTER first hitting "Forget this Network"? If not, you might want to give that a try. If after doing this, you still can't connect, I'm sorry but I have no further suggestions. Since it's not your network, obviously you can't change the encryption being used. However, just so you know, WEP is like using no encryption at all. There is software, readily available, that can crack WEP encryption in seconds. iOS devices don't play well with WEP. For iOS devices, best to use WPA2.

I haven't ever been able to connect to it so it doesn't even give me the option to "forget the network." thanks for the help anyways tho.

Just found out a little info about my work network. We are using a SMC Network 8014 W-G broadband modem and a Linksys WAP11 Wireless Access Point, and the security is WEP. I have tried to login to the device webpage to check/adjust settings but nobody here knows the password and "admin" doesn't work. I really don't want to do a hard reset and take the chance of screwing up the network for everybody in the office (apparently it was quite complicated to set up when they first installed it, I wasn't around then). Does anybody have any other ideas? Thanks

For older Linksys routers, the username is blank and the password is "admin." For newer routers, both the username and password are "admin."
