not connecting at Barnes and Noble

I was at Barnes and Noble today where I connected to their wi-fi. That is, in Settings I was told I was connected but when I tried to access Safari or YouTube it said I was not connected to the internet. Is there any other setting I should have checked?

Any help appreciated.

Just try quitting Safari by double tapping the home button, the recents tray at the bottom will appear, tap on the Safari icon and hold down on it until it wiggles, then tap the minus sign to quit. Then launch Safari and try again. Or reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears, slide to the right to shut down, then press the sleep button to power up again. Launch Safari and see if that works.

B&N is a pain!
Sometimes I actually have to walk close to the "cafe" before I get a good signal (larger stores).
In some stores I've noticed that even after the B&N web page loads, I have to go to the top of the page on the right where there is some real small print that says "Connect to the internet?" and you have to click that link AND THEN on yet another page, click on a TOS box before you get an actual internet link.
This could be your issue. Settings says connected, and you are, but not really.
They don't make it easy!
