NAS can be a main storage for proxies, thumbnails and posters. FinalCut Server Client get proxy files from FinalCut Server and doesn't use for this edit-in-place technology. -

Have already thumbed through our copy of 'Getting started with Final Cut Server'. THe one you mentioned seems to go into a lot more detail.
Will check it out.
