how has this happened & how do I get correct it??

Does anyone know why I suddenly appear to have TWO of everything??

I don't have two of everything as my backup clones are not connected all the time.

Any ideas?

Update and list a more complete profile (graphics, MP5,1, RAM, etc) and are you really still using 10.6.4?

Clone your system if you haven't.
Repair the clone

Do a Safe Boot and then regular boot

I prefer SuperDuper and Disk Warrior to keep system maintained.

You will probably need to rebuild the launch services database. I have used a utility called Cocktail in the past, but you can do it from the command line. See <http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20031215144430486>.

I have updated my info and rebooted as requested.
