How to remove photos from photo library?

I am new to the iPhone & use a Mac. In iTunes I have unticked the box sync photos from on my device, however I still have the photos showing on my iPhone. How can I remove them?

Mac Book Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Are they in a folder or in the Camera Roll. If the Camera Roll you need to remove them like you would photos on a Camera when connected to your computer.

I have figured it out by myself.

I had to click on my device in iTunes ==> click on photos ==> click on sync photos from... ==> and pick no events in the drop down box.

Then sync, it will remove all the photos from the photo library.

cls24 - You should not have to move or remove the album from your Mac. Apple does not use the Windows way of functioning.

Not sure that I have the answers, but messing around with my iPhone 4 (had it 2 days) and using iPhoto on my iMac, here's what I've found...

the Photo Library is just a duplicate or reference file to any other photo synched to the iPhone. If you have 'faces' in iTunes checked when you synch, it will put those files in the Photo Library also... basically you can click Sync Photos from 'iPhoto >> check Selected albums, events, and faces, and automatically include 'no events' >> choose the Albums you want synched. THEN, be sure to uncheck Faces .... this method will still combine all your synched photos in the Photo Library folder on the iPhone, but there will be a lot less....

at least that was my issue...
