I am new to the iPhone & use a Mac. In iTunes I have unticked the box sync photos from on my device, however I still have the photos showing on my iPhone. How can I remove them?

Are they in a folder or in the Camera Roll. If the Camera Roll you need to remove them like you would photos on a Camera when connected to your computer.
Not sure that I have the answers, but messing around with my iPhone 4 (had it 2 days) and using iPhoto on my iMac, here's what I've found...
the Photo Library is just a duplicate or reference file to any other photo synched to the iPhone. If you have 'faces' in iTunes checked when you synch, it will put those files in the Photo Library also... basically you can click Sync Photos from 'iPhoto >> check Selected albums, events, and faces, and automatically include 'no events' >> choose the Albums you want synched. THEN, be sure to uncheck Faces .... this method will still combine all your synched photos in the Photo Library folder on the iPhone, but there will be a lot less....
Thank you
I removed/deleted photos from iphoto library, hit sync and they ended up in photo library. spent ages researching how to actually delete the album off the phone. so many said it couldn't be done. excellent!
