Yes! I just typed a note in the notes field in Address Book and a moment later it disappeared. I tried again and it did the same. I repaired the permissions and restarted and typed in the info again — and it disappeared again! This is a serious problem. I hope Apple is reading this. I'm using the l'm using 10.6.7 on a 13" MacBook Pro 2.4 GHz. What gives?
Me too, just caught it now. kept wondering why all my 'left message.....'' were from 2010, everything is magically disappearing. OK Apple, over to you.....
You guys aren't alone. I'm seriously ****** off with this. It's ALL THE TIME that we're having issues with notes, contacts, and calendars. I think that MobileMe subscribers and iPhone users from 2008 and up should be able to use iCloud services TODAY as a means to make amends from Apple's lousy job with keeping everything in sync. I try not to bring down the hammer on Apple, because I know they're working hard to get the new services out, but they also need to remember that people put their most valuable information within the notes app, an application designed and distributed by Apple, who one would think to be a more reliable, stable, and user-friendly client as opposed to some third party applications. I certainly hope this issue is fixed. I'm certain that I did NOT delete all of my notes. Actually, I just had them two days ago, and as of yesterday evening, they were missing. This is absolutely unacceptable. And the fact that you can't store them reliably on the Mac is even worse. It's like trying to hack the CIA just to find your notes in Time Machine, or even in the back workings of Snow Leopard. I'm sorry to say, but MobileMe has never "just worked". I would truly appreciate some kind of compensation.
I'm having the same problem as you guys. It's not cosistent though. The information I write in the "notes field "remains intact for some address cards and not for others.
The older notes are not affected, it's only when I enter some new notes on some cards.
I didn't have this problem until I allowed syncing services with Office 2011. I've unselected syncing in Office, but am still having this problem on some, but not all my address cards. I do think turning on syncing services with Office for Mac 2011 , especially Outlook.
Does anyone know how to completely remove syncing services with Office for Mac 2011? I think the syncing services with Office is the most probable cause.
Any suggestions would be appreciated
I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8
Thanks!
Same problem. Where is Apple's response to this???
Same problem. I have entries dissapearing from the "note:" section of address book, sometimes even dissapearing imediately after entering. Most of the older notes ares still there. This problem has been going on at least a month. Sorry I can only complain and not help, I just wanted to let others see it is not an isolated problem.
We were having the same issue in Snow Leopard. I tried upgrading to Lion and the same issue was happening. When typing information into the Notes section of a contact in Address Book, they would mysteriously disappear after about 5 seconds.
To fix the problem, I did a full export (Address Book Archive - .abbu) of the Address Book (all contacts). I then deleted all of the contacts in the address book. Finally, I re-imported the .abbu to restore all of the contacts. At that point, I was able to type in notes without them mysteriously disappearing.
Hopefully this is helpful to others experiencing the same issue.

Well, I fixed the problem...I bought a new Mac Mini.
I was taliking to a tech at Signature Mac here in Fort Wayne and he said I should probalby run permisions in Disk Utility. Then he asked how much memory I had - not much. He said that could be the problem.
The cost of upgrading the hard drive and ram justified the price of the new ($599) Mini. I migrated our user account into the new machine using SuperDuper.
Once done, we were able to open our Address Book account and everything that was entered (that had dissapeared) was there.
Still no help as to why it happened - just a description of how we solved it.
Good luck:-)
To the original post: I know it has been over a year, but do you still have this problem with some of your contacts? If not how did you fix it, or did you just wait for it to go away?
I am not the original poster, but posted the same problem somewhere along the way. I have since migrated to iCloud. The problem seems to have been solved somehow, though I did just find out that changes I had made to address book yesterday had changed back to original...........because it seems that iCloud was automatically set as the default account without my being aware. I guess it would make sense for that default if you are making your changes from your various devices, however, I prefer to make my changes on my desktop. Perhaps one day I'll get used to this new-fangled way of operating - under heading "old dog new tricks".
It seems that many here have this problem, but it does not seem that anyone in the support community has found a solution to it. I called Apple Support, and they said that there is a solution, but I would have to pay $99 to get it since my 2 year warranty is up, and they directed me here. I am thinking that perhaps they make up these problems on purpose so that we have to pay them to fix it - lol. Otherwise, why not post the solution here for us to see?
To dtise, I havn't migrated AB to iCloud yet, since I had so many problems with it, so I only have one default account, "On My Mac". Therefore it must be something other than a syncing problem, I suppose.
