Apple Mail receiving not all messages?

I have my email through Bluehost, a web hosting site. I did this so I can have a custom domain such as bob@bob.com. Checking mail through Bluehost is horrible so I have a forward set up to gmail.
My Apple Mail has both emails set up to it. I notice sometimes I would recieve an email only to the bob@bob.com one or sometimes receive an email only to the gmail account. Other times they would send to both. - Shouldn't they always go to both accounts? People only know my bluhost one and even if they send an email to my bluehost one sometimes it only goes to the gmail account when i check apple mail. This is one of the reasons I didn't keep just the gmail account and kept both in Apple Mail. I'm affraid if I only keep the gmail I'm going to miss some messages I won't recieve, vise versa.
Another issue why I have both emails on Apple Mail is when I would send something at times it would show up as the gmail address which is slightly different even though I made in gmail settings to use my domain from bluehost.
My goal is to eventually just use the gmail account in apple mail but trust im not missing any potential incoming messages, and also to be able to send out messages all having my custom domain blue host address.
