Backup not working

I'm getting this message shortly after the backup starts on both my office external WD hard disk and my Time Capsule at home.

The backup was not performed because an error occurred ...

I have a MacBook Pro Intel Core i7 and am using the latest OS X. I have repaired permission also.

Not sure what's going on. Any ideas?

    See User Tips for Time Machine for help with TM problems. Also you can select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "time machine" to locate articles on how to use TM. See also Mac 101- Time Machine.

    There should be more to the message.

    It's likely one of the ones in #C3 of [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).

    If not, see #C2 there.
