Mac App Store is having problems recognizing my Apple ID. The App store shows my list of purchases, some say install next to them, some of the apps say update next to them in the 'Purchases' list but no updates appear in the updates section. If I try to click on the update button in the 'Purchases' list I get an error.

I only have one account, its the same one I use for iTunes. I have read all the other posts on this, I have tried other peoples suggestions for fixes for this. I tried resetting Spotlight, rm the Appstore plist etc, but I still get this error and this is a brand new install of 10.6.6.

Console is giving me the error that multibyte iD's are unsupported. I've been using the same ID since 1990 so I don't know what the problem is.

Hi,

Quit the Mac App Store if it's open. From the menu bar App Store / Quit App Store. Or Command + Q on your keyboard.

Launch iTunes then from the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.

Click: *Reset warnings and Reset cache*.

Now from the iTunes menu bar click Store / Sign Out.

Try the Mac App Store.

If you still have problems, follow the paths here.

~ (Tilde) represents your Home folder.

~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db. Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.

~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.appstore.plist and com.apple.storeagent.plist files to the Trash.

~/Library/Cookies. Move the com.apple.appstore.plist and Cookies.plist files to the Trash.

Restart your Mac.

Relaunch the MAS. If you still see the notification, email the MAS Customer Support here.

Please click My Settings on the right side of this window and update your forum profile. Thanks!

One other thing to check. From the iTunes menu bar click Store / View My Account. Make sure your payment information is correct.

Hi,

I have the same problem and tried deleting the plist. etc. but it didn't work.

Which App did you delete and redownload? The "Mac App Store"-App or a specific App in the App Store which causes the problem, when updating?
And if your answer is the "Mac App Store"-App, then tell me, how to reinstall it. I got it only from the 10.6.6 Update.

Deleting the offending app (Facetime) worked for me. I noticed that I had to authenticate as an admin user before the app could be moved to the trash. I can't recall doing this but perhaps I downloaded it when I was logged into the computer with another admin user and hence I would not have privileges to replace the app. The Mac App application was then not able to function (I presume it deletes and replaces the app) but was really giving an incorrect message. It may have been trying to tell me to login as a different user on the mac rather than a different itunes account.

Is there no other solution to the account problem? I am having the same issue updating Courier and would really like to avoid having to delete the app and lose all of my envelopes and destinations I have saved just to update.

This is the third time updating on the App store has done this. The other 2 times deleting the apps wasn't a big deal because they didn't involve saved information. This is a major con to the app store and making me fondly remember getting updates from individual developers.

I've had this from day 1 of the Mac App Store on my iMac although everything works fine on my MBP. 10.6.7 only changed the (null) part of the error message. But I've now got it working...

I use Alfred which wasn't finding all my apps (and neither was Spotlight) so in checking out a solution to this found the following fix which needs to be run in Terminal. I have no idea what it does, but it has fixed all my problems.

First delete and rebuild the spotlight index. Then run terminal and type

arch -i386 mdimport /Applications

Once this completed Alfred found all my apps, Spotlight concurred, and Mac App Store showed 14 updated in the update panel whereas before it said all apps were up to date.

No they genuinely are!!
