Q: Reconnect Render Files

Whenever I round trip a FCP project through FCSvr and reopen in FCP none of my previous render files are connected and I have to re-render even though the files are still in my Render Files folder. If I try to reconnect them, the "Render File" button is grayed out in the re-connect box.

Realistically, you never reconnect render files. I'd be interested in what your set up is that you're rendering so much. Are you checking out the FCP project to the same location every time?

Yes, I check out to a folder on my desktop. My Video Render folder is on an internal HD and I see render files, (projectname)-FIN-0000006a, for example in a properly named folder with various creation dates corresponding to when i have worked on the FCP project. As an experiment, I rendered a project, I checked it in and then checked it out again immediately, and it appeared as unrendered, red line above the time line and no playback until rendered. This occurs on other workstations as well.

It seems that there was a break in the path to the render files. I changed the location to a new folder on the same drive and now the render files reconnect.
