Outlook to Mail (POP account)

Hey guys, recently I decided to make a switch from Outlook 2011 to Mail, and there's a quick question I'd like to ask.

One of my mail accounts in Outlook was a POP account which I already closed on the server. Prior to closing it, I downloaded all its mails to my Outlook so I currently have that entire POP account in "On My Computer" section in Outlook.

I would just like to know how to import this POP account into my Mail app so that I could access it at any time? I had no problem with my other (IMAP) accounts because they synced by themselves, but moving that POP account is a bit confusing.

Although I have MS Office 2011 installed on my wife's iMac, we have not used Outlook -- since I love Mail, I have as yet no incentive to trial run with Outlook.

However, I would think if you move the messages from this out of use email accounts Inbox and Sent to other folders in Outlook, you could then import them as On My Mac mailboxes in Mail.

I also think Mail might import the account folders, but then you might get a series of error message to circumvent because the account is no longer active.

Ok I found a workaround for it. What I did was install Entourage 2008, then I created a separate folder on my desktop for each of my Outlook Yahoo POP mail folders and drag-n-dropped them from Outlook to my desktop. Then I created folders with the same names in my Entourage and drag-n-dropped the folders from my desktop into the same folders that I created in Entourage one by one.

Finally, I opened my Mail app and clicked Mailbox > New Mailbox and selected "ON MY MAC." Then created a folder and used the File > Import Mailboxes option to import everything from Entourage. A bit of work, but it did the trick so now I have the POP mail I had in my Outlook in my Mail app.

Wow...thank you... I have similar problem. I switched to Apple after many years as PC, specifically Outlook user. Bought Office 2011 to have Outlook as main tool, but has no Sync options; hence I need to use Mail. I have four POP accounts and have been trying to find an answer for couple of months. It seems your solution is the best, I will nee to try this... No to mention other sync problems with BlackBerry...

Thank you.
