It stops playing

I bought my nano week ago. Everything worked fine until updating it to 1.1 version. Now every time i turn off the screen, the currently played songed is paused.
Anyone got similar problem? Any ideas to deal with it?

Mine was working 'fine' until latest update and then last night it would stop playing every time it went to sleep, whether I pressed the button or just let it go dark on its own. Taking the advice here, I discovered I never had my headphones--neither my Apple ones nor my Panasonic ones--plugged in all the way. Now it works perfectly (much better than before)! You really have to push them in hard until they click and there's no metal showing. If you can jiggle at all, they aren't in far enough.

Thanks so much,iPod Whisperer!

This is definitely not a headphone related issue. Prior to the latest itunes update which I downloaded last week, my ipod nano 6th gen. was working fine. After the update, every time i press the sleep button the screen turns off as well as the music. If i were to not press the sleep button and just allow the screen to stay on, eventually the music will turn off when the screen turns off. This must be a problem with the recent itunes updates because i have read about many who have experienced the same problem that i am currently having. Again, it is not a headphone related issue, since ive had this ipod in november the sound has worked fine and i know when the headphones are alll the way in or not. is there anyway to get the older itunes software or do i have to wait for apple to fix this problem?

My nano also worked perfectly before the update. After the update the music would turn off along with the screen just like yours, but pushing the earphone plug in all the way corrected the problem.
I think some others have found that the nano will now only work with certain headphones so you might want to try a different type.

Some times mine won't even play for 30 seconds, other times I get a whole minute or two out of it before it stops. The sleep button is set to next track. The headphones are the original ones and they're fully plugged in. The ipod was playing perfectly fine until the update. Time to drag the old shuffle out and consider returning the nano to the shop because I didn't spend that much money on something that won't work right.

Mine did the same thing after updating. I've only had this Nano for 2 weeks. I took it to the Apple Store and after a week they gave me a reconditioned one. The same thing happened to that one also. It plays for one minute and turns itself completely off. You have to wake it up every minute. I have restored it twice. Same thing. I'm getting the original back and returning it. I very much like the idea of this small nano but it does not work right. If anyone is listening do not upgrade this, something is very wrong with this upgrade.

You were right whisperer. I thought; Of course I have the ear plugs in right. But lo and behold, the plug was not all the way. I pushed it until I heard a click and everything is ok. Thank You Thank You, Even the apple people in the store did not get this. I'm so glad. This ipod is sooo cute. Besides It plays beautifully in my car.
