It stops playing

I bought my nano week ago. Everything worked fine until updating it to 1.1 version. Now every time i turn off the screen, the currently played songed is paused.
Anyone got similar problem? Any ideas to deal with it?

Check your settings. Go to Settings > Music > Sleep/Wake button. See how it is set up and make sure it is set to do what you want.

Also make sure you are not holding down the wake/sleep button too long when you hit it. You should be able to just tap it once quickly to do what you want without it pausing or stopping your track.

If you hold down the sleep wake button long enough to see the little pinwheel flower spinning(about 3 seconds), you have held it down too long and your song will pause.

I am having the same problem. I have gone to settings and it is setup correctly and I'm not holding the button down too long. The music stops playing and the screen turns of. Another quick push and the screen comes back on and the music is paused.
If I hold the button down for a longer time it does turn off completely.
I tried to do a restore twice but each time the latest update is still installed.

When I hold it down for multiple seconds, I see the spinning pinwheel before it turns off. When I press it quickly, the screen goes dark, just as it always did before the update, except now, the music stops. A quick press turns the screen back on with the music paused.
If it has been turned off completely, I have to hold the button down for multiple seconds to turn it back on.
And, no, the button is not sticking down.

I'm assuming you have restored in itunes, etc.

The only other thing I can think of is that it might interpreting your click as two fast clicks - which might do this with a new feature I found with the 1.1 update.

Go to settings>music>sleep/wake button. See what it is set too.

When I looked at mine it was set to on and Next Track. If your is on and set to pause, it might be that your single button push is being seen as two button pushes, and pausing it. Just to make sure, turn double click off and see if it still happens.

Yes. Music simply stops after a minute or two when it goes into sleep mode. My ipod has essentially become useless after this update.

Before the update, it had done this when listening to the radio, but now it does it for everything. I can't find a way to adjust this in settings, but this is my first ipod, so I might be overlooking something. Thanks for feedback.

This is going to sound nuts, but it sounds like your headset is not inserted all the way. Some other folks a while back described the exact same thing you are saying and it ended up being because the headset was not fully inserted.

Check one more time, but make sure your headset is really plugged in all the way. There should be no space between the white part on the plug and the case of the nano. Try it with the headphones that came with it as well, just to make sure.

Wow! The headphones were the problem for me too. Apparently I have never had my headphones plugged in all the way. I really had to force it in there and then it clicked and it seems to work great now. The headphone outlet was the one minor complaint I would have had with the ipod, but now it seems I never had them in all the way. Thanks!
