I was browsing the web on my ipad and it went to sleep. I pressed the home button to turn the ipad back on and nothing happened. My ipad won't turn back on. What can I do?

still nothing. My Ipad is currently a paperweight. The battery isn't dead. I can't reset by holding down the off button because nothing happens when I hold it. What is the problem? I plug it in to, but it's of no use because my cpu isn't reading the ipad itself. I'm quite angry right now because I baby this thing like there's no tomorrow. PLEASE HELP!!!!User uploaded file

If it shut down because of low battery level, then you just plug it in and let it recharge. You'll be able to see and hear it waking up again.

If not due to low battery, then try a Reset on your iPad, or any of the other recommended steps in the Tips & Troubleshooting section of your User's Guide.

Reset — Press & hold both the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons for 10 seconds, until white Apple logo appears, then let the rest of the boot process continue.

I experienced this about a week ago. Don't know if I missed the hard reset tip on the site or it's not there. S quick call to Apple and the tech guy had things straightened out in no time.I had to perform the procedure twice though. The first time I tried it the Apple logo appeared as expected but the iPad went right back to a black screen,

my ipad2 hasnt worked for a few days. I could hear it turn on but could see nothing but black screen. I tried the hard reset the first day but it did not work. I tried it again and it is working. Although I do have some black shadow like dots on the left side of the screen. I would like to know why and how to fix them. otherwise, i am thrilled that my ipad is working again!!!!!!!

When the iPad unexpectantly turns off and the screen remains blank you should suspect the the battery has completely drained. Plug it into the charger that came with it and wait one hour. It may take that long before an iPad with a completely drained battery responds. Then reset the iPad. Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

If the iPad restarts let it continue to charge until the battery is 100%. If the iPad does not restart make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. Be sure to back up your device before taking or sending it to Apple.
