New 2011 MacBook Pro Heating Issue?

I bought the new 2011 line of MacBook Pros yesterday and was wondering if anyone else noticed that the processor heats up a lot faster causing the fans to rev up really high? I had Steam open yesterday re-downloading my games and the fan went ballistic and I don't see why when steam was only using roughly 20% CPU downloading those games. That never caused my previous MacBook Pro's fans to rev up like this.

whats the software got to do with this, ability to deal with traffic is a hardware thing predominantly, Im talking about not having auto log in or be able to edit your own post after just posting it, I cant even see a way to quote someone elses tho Ive seen others do it, its no where obvious thats for sure.

What the software has to do with it is synchronizing all the servers to maintain up-to-the-moment, correctly sequenced display of the millions of messages in the hundreds of Apple forums.

For help with quoting, maybe you should consult Discussions Help:

http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa#reply

Or if using the Quote button directly above the Reply text box is too hard for you, type a Return followed by a ">" and then paste the text you want to quote after it.

You have 15 minutes after posting to edit your own post. To do so, use the Edit button immediately to the left of the Reply button.

I ordered my MacBook Pro online on the Thursday it came out. It is a 13" with a 2.3 GHz i5, 500 gb 5400 rpm hard drive, and 4 gb SDRAM.
Anyways, I haven't had any problems with overheating or an overactive fan. The only time my fan was even audible was when I was playing games, otherwise no problem, not while multitasking or working.

I just bought this Macbook Pro 2gz 2011
I previously owned a MBP late 2008

My initial impression what's been happening with this new system is unacceptable.

- I've had 3 computer hangs in the last 4 days (happens when I walk away from it and it is not doing anything intensive or out of he ordinary... bizzarre)
- The fans spin up to a loud volume 6400rpm during some simple activities that dont seem to warrant it ie. starting a browser with a handful of restored tabs.
- Running the simple "yes > /dev/null" in the shell immediately causes the fans to spin up.

None of these things happen with my MBP 2008.

Is this the same for all 2011 MBPs or is it possibly system specific?

I'm assuming that the hangs will be readily fixed with the next os update.
I'm not so sure about the heat and fan issues.

What's the likelihood of the next MBP not having these issues? I might wait a year and make due with my ol trusty 2008.

As there are too many MBP 2011 with heating/freezing up problems I just cancelled my order which hasn't been shipped yet. When you are paying 3500+ one would expect to get one without these major problems. Shame on Apple. I will monitor this thread and when the above mentioned problems have been resolved I may reorder depending on how fast Apple releases a software/firmware up date.

eww: there's no need to get tetchy with newbies. You and 'stare bare' both seem to be right about what you each are saying.

'stare bare' is correct that there's no quote button when reading the page of messages (reply and email are the only responses offered).

You are also correct, but only after one has initiated a reply. At that point there's a row above the editing window offering icon buttons for bold, italic, underline, spellcheck, ... and for inserting the text of what is being replied to.

At least that's what I see via my browsers (Safari/OSX, Safari/Win, and MSIE/Win), ... at least as a new member of this forum.

Does that clarify things?
