Mini displayport - HDMI messing with wifi signal - SOLUTION

Hey there, just thought I'd throw this out in the air because it was frustrating me madly.

I just got a Samsung 32'' LCD TV to use with Netflix. I got a Mini port - HDMI adapter to plug into the LCD TV. I quickly discovered that as soon as I plugged in the LCD TV to the mini displayport, my wifi signal would cut all data. The signal strength would be fine, the network would stay connected, but data would slow down to an unusable rate.

I found the solution. When I owned a 27'' iMac (first model of it they made, 10.1) I was having issues with my wifi signal - poor data connectivity. I found the solution by changing my wireless channel to "8" and switching authentication to "WPA2-PSK (AES)". This did resolve my issue with my 27'' iMac.

The solution to my issue with my MacBook Pro Unibody version 5.4 was nearly the same - change channel and authentication type. I found by switching my signal to channel "6" and authentication to WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA2-PSK (AES), the mini displayport issue was no longer an issue.

Cheers!

Ben

so.

I have a Macbook 13" 2.4ghz with 4GB ram. standard apart from that.

I use it with an Eizo 20" monitor - which connects fine via DVI & the apple adapter - BUT - i loose wifi connection straight away - i mean, i still have signal bars, but nothing will load anywhere. after time - the wifi bars go down.

Disconnecting the display connector brings internet and full signal back to life immediately. I've tried in both clamshell mode, and with screen open.

I've read about this elsewhere, but found no fixes - i'm on 10.5.6 and using an Apple Basestation & also have tried with a Netgear router- I tried all channels.

it drives me nuts, as it's when i'm working on the big screen that i need to send stuff to my server....

Anyone have any idea on how to fix, how to do anything??

MacBookPro5,4 15'', Mac OS X (10.6.6), Intel Core 2 Duo 2.53 GHz
