24" LED Display with 2011 15" MPB

Same as most others - applied 10.6.7 to my 17" early 2011 MBP, and still have the jittery behavior several times per minute on my 24" ACD. Seems like it doesn't really get going until after the monitor warms up.

Still works just fine with my early 2009 17" MBP, running 10.6.7 as well.

10.6.7 had no effect for me, same blackouts continue every few min.

Not many blackouts today but all of the sudden the screen became a mosaic of all the open windows. Unplugging and then plugging Thuderbolt connector fixed it. Hope Apple is taking notice of this.......

I have same issue
Not fixed with 10.6.7 update
flickering very rare though - 3 times per day
blackout likewise rare 5 times per day
neither lasts more than a couple of seconds
so perhaps 30 secs of interruption per day.
Would prefer it to be fixed though!

I used to have a very similar issue with my late 2008 unibody macbook (first model with displayport coincidentally).

After a lots of months of tinkering, it appeared (and this is just guesswork) that the external display refresh rate was not properly detected, therefore the screen was trying to correct but would sometimes be out of sync.

There is an utility that allows to specify an arbitrary setting (SwitchResX) that fixed this for me.

Not saying this is the same issue, just thinking this is worth checking. Sorry if this been said before.

(NB the problem went away with later versions of Leopard ans an update to the adapter (came back after an OS update (maybe 10.6.3 ?))

I hope Apple realizes that this is still an issue and haven't checked it off as fixed...cos it's not.

The 10.6.7 update seems to have improved things for me. I got one flicker this morning, but otherwise smooth sailing. Almost there anyway.

I received my new MBP 13" i7 five days ago. My previous computer was a 2008 MBP 15" coupled with an 24" ACD, and I had the black screen irregularly, approximatively three or four times per day.

But now, with the early 2011 MBP, things are coming to be crazy: the black blink occurred often, until two times per second! This morning, the screen became a mosaic, with the dock on the upper side of the screen. I made a screen copy and this copy was normal, i.e. the problem is in the display and not in the macbook. Just after, I unplugged the display port and replugged it: and all was right during several hours… Another curious thing: when I unplug the power cord, my MBP falls in a sleepy way…

I've had a contact with AppleCare, but they have no idea.

The 10.6.7 update also seems to have improved things for me.

A few closely spaced brief blackouts and one flicker this morning just after I woke MBP from sleep. Nothing more thereafter rest of the day despite a variety of sometimes CPU demanding tasks.

Yep, I agree. I was initially worried once I noticed a blackout and a couple graphical glitches within an hour after installing the 10.6.7 update. It has been a couple days now and I haven't noticed any issues. So, at least Apple is on the right track.

Mother Hubbard! I must've jinxed myself. I just noticed the familiar graphical glitch. Still, it's a much less frequent occurrence. So, there's that.

Yikes too!!

This morning had like 6 blackout blinks in less than 10 minutes. Last night had none in two hours.....

Then I though maybe the display connector was loose.... pulled it plugged it back in and bath screens were black (backlight was on, on the MBP)> Had to do a power on reset to get running again......

This morning I was running Chrome to check it out. I will try with no chrome for a while (may matter.... might not).....

24" is under AC and if this doesn't get better in a reasonable time Apple and I will have to have a serious talk.......

UGH! I just dropped 4k on a new MBP 15", just got it today, and my 24" Cinema display is flickering and going nuts even after the OS update. APPLE FIX THIS!
