Aug 26, 2011 9:54 AM in response to Jason W-Dby bradfromcincinnati,Jason, this is what I get initially.
Mine becomes worse though. The screen image will distort into 4 quadrants (hard to explain). The black outs become more frequent. Sometimes I'll get a snow picture (similar to an older TV when no channel comes in). Eventually the screen completely goes black and does not come back until you unplug the mini display port and plug it back in. Do you experience this as well? I don't see these latter problems reported very frequently. I may attach a video as well...

Aug 26, 2011 8:05 PM in response to DanRybby sdischer,Same exact problem here. Took my 15 in and they replaced the logic board (the motherboard including the video adapter) and it still does the same thing. I have tried everything, but it still blacks out an sometimes does the four quadrant screen dive thing. Im so frustrated, I just want my old 13" back. Apple, please hear the masses, we are on page 41 of these posts...

Aug 27, 2011 3:20 AM in response to sdischerby NicoNB,That's about the same as I get it, although I miss the blackening out in the video, which lasts 2-3 seconds on my ACD and the tyling or quadrant screen a sdischer call's it.
Yes it is 41 pages more noticable is the fact that only 27 people follow this discussion.
That make me wonder how many people really have this problem.
If it is just a small group of customers why nbother to fix it with a firmware update, then it is a lot cheaper to fix it by offering people a swap like they did when the first people reported this bug.

Aug 27, 2011 7:25 AM in response to NicoNBby camil.b,Possible fix after 10.7.2
About two days ago I attached my MacBook Pro, core i7 2.2GHz 256 SSD, 8 GB RAM, to my 24" Cinema Display and the screen started to flicker; 10-15 in a minute.I did a clean install with Lion 10.7.1 and the flickering persisted.
In my developer account it was a beta combo update to 10.7.2 (11C40) which address some graphic drivers improvements. After I did the update flickering was reduced considerable, to 2-3 blinks in an hour and increased when a movie was playing (10-20 blinks in an hour) or running flash in Safari.
Also a permanent blank screen occurred. In that situation, the system recognized the display, the resolution could be changed, arrangement of the screens could be switched but cinema display remains blank. After sleep/wake up, everything was back to normal.
In Console was no message at that time.
And I observed that cinema display fans are running very intensive during blinks, for about 1 second.
Today Apple pushed a new build for 10.7.2 (11C43). After I did the update and restarted the system blink frequency was increased with or without running programs.
I restarted again and boot on Recovery partition, where I ran Safari for about two hours without any blink.
Restarted again in Lion 10.7.2, running a HD movie and no blink for about two hours.
Now I'm running at the same time an intensive render test with Cinebench, 3 X 1080p youtube movies in Safari, 8 x 720p movies in live mix with Modul8 and output results in MadMapper thru syphon server. Also iTunes is running, Mail and iPhoto.
No more blinks and no crash at these intensive tasks.
I will shut down the display and the computer and do some tests after one hour, and repeat the steps.
I don't think is a permanent fix but I hope it will came in final release of 10.7.2

Sep 1, 2011 7:46 PM in response to DanRybby Michael Vallance,After 8 frustrating months and 3 returns, Apple in Japan has replaced my 24 inch monitor with a new , larger one. No extra fee. I bought AppleCare too.
I even sent in my MacBook Pro and they confirmed that the laptop was just fine.

Sep 1, 2011 8:07 PM in response to camil.bby Thorsten Geissler,Waiting 8 month for a "potential" fix is not acceptable. I had it with Apple trying to sit out this problem. Why do we have AppleCare if they don't replace our ACD's that are obviously not compatible with thunderbolt equipped Apple machines.

Sep 3, 2011 10:12 AM in response to DanRybby sdischer,I spoke with Apple yesterday, they told me it is now a known issue and under investigation and they are looking at a solution. I think if we are patient they will supply as solution.

Sep 4, 2011 3:38 AM in response to DanRybby StevenStevens,Today I connected my 24 ACD to my Thunderbolt Macbook Pro 17. Same issue. The screen flickers 3-5 times a minute. Now I read that this hasn’t been solved in the past 6 months by Apple. Will it ever be addressed?
BTW: The display works fine on my 2008 MBP 15 with MiniDisplayPort!

Sep 4, 2011 5:09 AM in response to DanRybby missilemike,On my 2011 15" mbp, this happens all the time.
On my 2011 Mac Mini server, it almost never happens. Maybe once every 8 hours.
I use the same 24" LED ACD with both directly through the mini displayport. My only guess is that the mini server only has the intel hd 3000 video, where the mbp has the ati/intel switching video.
camil.b: is the issue still solved with the Lion developer release? I see they just posted another one on Sept 2nd.
