I've already installed both of them... and it solves nothing. 4 black screens while wrinting this... 5... 6.
I can confirm as well - both are installed for me and it's still flickering just as much as it ever did.

Sep 18, 2011 5:25 PM in response to gekkonautby Loly19,I installed a Thunderbolt Software update this morning on my 2011 imac and have not had any flickering since.
Yesterday it would flicker and black out at the least every 2 minutes, at the most every 30 seconds or so.
Fingers crossed that this fixed it. I was getting ready to put my rage face on at the genius bar.
It is just called Thunderbolt Software Update Version 1.0 in my log.
I will post back if it starts up again.
I really hope it doesn't, I didn't realize how much of an annoyance it really was until now that I can work peacefully without it.

Sep 19, 2011 2:40 AM in response to ericthecatby ericthecat,Question to those here who got the Beta version of something (as much as you can answer under the NDA): do you know if this latest update is the equivalent to the one you got?

Sep 19, 2011 8:40 AM in response to Loly19by Loly19,Just got another blackout
I can at least hope it stays at this rate instead of what it was. I feel for everyone who has the issue as badly as I did before.

Sep 19, 2011 8:26 PM in response to ptaylor874by Dr Sly,In response to Sebastian above, I had this to say:
Your story is well-written, however you might be mistaken in thinking that it only affects 24" ACDs. It affects 27 inchers too!
Bottom line is that the Thunderbolt port is *not* getting along with the mini DisplayPort of those Apple Cinema Displays (2009 and 2010).
No surprise that the Thunderbolt enabled ACDs which just came out will be perfectly fine.
I'm in a dilemma: I own a problematic 27" which previously worked fine (until of course I got a MBA with Thunderbolt port), and the warranty expires in October. I warned the 'Geniuses' at my local Apple Store that should there be no 'firmware solution' coming out before my warranty expires, I expect a full replacement by a model that works (meaning, the new ones).
They didn't know what to say of course. But everyone knows that it's been more than 7, yes SEVEN months since Thunderbolt enabled Macs have been out.
I guess I'm going my heavy, burdensome 27" ACD on October 24th, along with my engineering friend, and certainly with my lawyer friendo too.
Very disappointing.

Sep 20, 2011 11:45 AM in response to El Presidenteby iFrodo,If you mean the Thunderbolt Display firmware update, it's only targeted to the brand new 27" Thunderbolt display, and has nothing to do with ACD 24".
