Mar 21, 2011 2:55 PM in response to DanRybby El Presidente,Am i the only still having blackouts despite the 10.6.7 update? no more graphical glitches but definitely still getting blackouts. -
Mar 21, 2011 4:20 PM in response to El Presidenteby Kyle O'Bannon,You're not alone. I just noticed the first blackout since installing 10.6.7 at about 40 minutes after boot. The only apps I had open were Mail, Safari and iTunes (nothing playing). I haven't noticed any graphical glitches (yet), though.
And... I just noticed a graphical glitch at 59 minutes since last boot. Bummer.

Mar 21, 2011 4:26 PM in response to DanRybby El Presidente,Yup. Just as i feared. The first rushed update rarely fixes the problem when it comes to Apple. -

Mar 21, 2011 5:33 PM in response to leesilberkleitby Firecop1,Same problem here, 2011 MBP 17-inch w/ 8 MB Ram. 24 inch Cinema Display flickers heavily when plugged into the MBP. -
Mar 21, 2011 10:59 PM in response to DanRybby streitz,Installed 10.6.7. I'm still getting an occasional digital flicker, but seems to be less. I haven't seen any blackouts yet. -

Maybe the occasional flicker is now related to the (possibly independent) problem reported here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2669791

Mar 22, 2011 4:42 AM in response to Christian Friesby helloniklas,So, after a few hours of running 10.6.7 the blackouts are back... Same problem as before... -
Mar 22, 2011 5:39 AM in response to helloniklasby th.effing,Updated to 10.6.7 last night (Central Europe), and worked fine for hours (as it sometimes did before), and then today, up until just now (noon): flickering and blackouts just as before, on a 24 inch ACD that worked fine with MBP's prior to Early 2011 MBP's.
Edit: I did reset PRAM after the update and before hooking the laptop up to my 24 inch ACD
Edit 2: I notice this other very strange behaviour, ONLY on days when I've been having these glitches and blackouts. In Safari (5.0.4), when I'm on a website, and click on the bookmarks icon, and whatever is highlighted in the navigation column of bookmarks doesn't have anything in it, so that the cover flow section is supposed to be empty, this "empty" field does not refresh into the black it's supposed to be, but stays on the website as it is. Anyone else have this when they try?
At first after updating, I wasn't able to duplicate the problem, and now, just when glitches and blackouts started again, I'm easily able to duplicate it. See here:

Mar 22, 2011 7:14 AM in response to Christian Friesby streitz,Thanks for the link. I'm pretty sure that's not me though. I should have said jitter, not flicker. I have the issue of 1 second blackouts and a digital looking jitter that quickly shifts the external monitor's content to the left or right for a split second. My Apple 24" display worked just fine on my last unibody MBP, but the newest one with the thunderbolt port seems to have issues with my apple display. The display is perfect when hooked up to my other macs. Thanks for the post, it really helped to read that other thread though.
