Just tried to pair my iPad to my iMac from the Bluetooth setup assistant on the iMac....it went through all the set up features and sent the iPad a code (a series of numbers) to confirm the pairing... clicked ok on the iPad and pressed continue to finish set up on the iMac...
In short... its showing the paring on the iPad and on the iMac.. BUT on the iPad an error has come up saying "Connection Unsuccessful - iMac is not supported"....
Any ideas? - is this a known issue? HELP

The error message is right. the BT profiles on the iPad do not support pairing with a computer. You can only pair with speakers, headphones, keyboards, some peer-to-peer gaming. See:

You can use the PAN profile to pair with the computer for tethering, which is why it let you proceed through.
