Moving iTunes from old iMac to new iMac without Set Up Assistant

My new iMac won't recognize my old (pre-intel) iMac using the Set Up Assistant or the migration assistant. I've manually moved all my files (except iTunes) to the new iMac using an external hard drive as an intermediary. If I transfer the entire iTunes file/directory from to the external hard drive and then move it from the external drive to the new computer, will that preserve all my play lists, ipod, imac, apple tv info etc? If not, how should I do it.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.6)

Are you using the iTunes options in iTunes prefs>Advance - to 'keep' and 'copy'?

If so then all your files and tunes are in the iTunes folder.

Drag that folder to the ext HD then plug into the new Mac and drag to your HD>User>Your Account>Music folder.

Once the copying is done then open iTunes with the 'option key down - follow the dialog and point the way to the iTunes library file that you want to open. All your ratings, date added etc should be intact as from the old iMac.
