How to free up space on imac??

I have a WD 2T external hard drive,(that does not support firewire, only usb) if I transfer files to this hard drive. What is safe to delete on my computer???

you could move your iTunes and iPhoto libraries to the external.

iTunes: copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes media folder) to the external. launch iTunes while holding the option key, click on +choose library+ when prompted, and select the iTunes folder on the external.

when done, you can delete the contents of your local iTunes media folder.
