Feb 24, 2013 12:33 PM in response to Kristian_Fby incagraphy, thanks for the correction Kristian, i don't know much about the computers, but I like to learn.
Aryx, yes, maybe my guess/question was wrong, even far from right, yet, commenting on it a second time without adding anything doesn't help either.
My question still stands, IF earlier responses in this thread are correct and these logic board problems arise because of an initial manufacturing mistake and get triggered by user actions, then are there ways to reduce the risk... or to notice this early on before warranty is over.

Feb 25, 2013 7:46 AM in response to incagraphyby djanderz,i suggest download gfx card status and disable gpu whenever you use it.
i had mine tested at a apple and it came back it failed the gpu tests, i have never used my macbook on anything that requires the gpu to be turned out and still it went faulty.
anyone out of warranty is expected to prove that it was there when you recieved your macbook pro,
anybody know how to prove such a thing?
best get my flux capacitor ready in my Deloean

Feb 25, 2013 9:45 PM in response to djanderzby Kristian_F,Whenever You use Your MacBook Pro, GPU (CPU integrated or secondary ATI graphic adapter)
is in use.
MBP uses CPU integrated only, because there is no secondary graphic adapter.

Mar 18, 2013 5:24 AM in response to Rensoomby Wahid@OZ,So, this issue seem to occur just before the expiry date of the warranty, i bought mine late february 2012, started to freez a week ago, searched and there u go, it is a common issue!!!
What apple has done about it? We bought this top of the range macbook pro and after warranty expires, seem that the machine is expired too? What is next? What about the important information we trusted the machine with????
These faulty machines should have been recalled.
Any idea what shall i do guys?

Apr 28, 2013 7:16 PM in response to Rensoomby Kerplunk67,I've been having the same issue for the past two weeks, the Genius Bar replaced the motherboard and it was ok for about 24 hours but now it's exactly the same. As a designer I'm starting to panic as this is my sole design machine.
I've got another appointment tomorrow, I'm hoping they can do something quick or I may have to bite the bullet and buy a new machine. Is there any resolution beside replacing the motherboard, which didn't work for me.
-
Apr 29, 2013 7:04 AM in response to Kerplunk67by Csound1,The motherboard is the machine basically, I can't imagine 2 with the same defect but, add up how much money you will lose while waiting vs the cost of a new machine, the point at which the 2 trajectories intersect is when you should buy a new machine.

Apr 30, 2013 3:29 AM in response to Csound1by puntopelota,I have my Macbook pro at home. I was told by Apple that replaced the motherboard.
and the problem is worse than before. Now it is impossible to work the ATI. remains frozen. this on the 1st day.
Even I can not believe that Apple does these things... -
Apr 30, 2013 3:47 AM in response to Rensoomby Wahid@OZ,Here is what happened with me.
I called apple support, was asked to pay around 200 dollars and was assured that my issue will be resolved.
After trying all sort of solutions with them, they told me they could not resolve the issue and that we going to do a system restore, i refused because first of all i cant afford to lose my data and i did not pay that amount to be toought something any apple user can do, i emailed them and told them that i am hoing to dispute the payment, they were kind and refunded my money.
I backed up my data, you can search youtube on how to do so, then started a system restore, then guess what :) system restore failed and got a message telling me HDD has unrecoverable errors.
So, i bough a mew HDD, formatted it and installed the system snd everything is back to normal.
Remember that i had exactly the same problem with rainbow loading sogn forever.
Hope this helped

May 13, 2013 9:48 AM in response to Rensoomby puntopelota,Good. Last Friday I went again to the Applestore at 18:15 pm.
At 22:00 I was called to go look on Saturday: shock:
The technician told me it was rare that I had failed for the 2nd time and the same symptom and I did a clean install.
He asked me to not install the backup over. copied only personal files.
The truth is that now it does bland rare, I've almost finished installing all the applications and gives the same goal all cargo that holds up
I hope it lasts me the happiness I have: lol:
