Mar 21, 2011 1:39 PM in response to Rensoomby L-Natural,To add information to the topic in hopes of a speedy resolution.
Purchased a 15inch MBP new on Saturday.
Loaded Lightroom 3 and began to edit some files. Exported a single file from DNG to JPEG and the fans went crazy. All I heard was fans seemingly running at full strength. Mind you this was the exporting of one file from DNG to small 2000x2000 jpeg. As soon as the export finished the fans calmed down.
The laptop didnt lockup but I can imagine if I had itunes open playing music or some other load like photoshop open.
This is an issue that needs to be fixed.
Specs:
OS 10.6.6
2.3 GHZ Intel Core I5
4gb 1333 DDr3 -

I just updated. Issue still persists for me on 1000 fish problem.
I don't believe this is the same issue. The chrome webgl page says it can cause hard freezes.
What about the other methods? -
Mar 21, 2011 1:41 PM in response to wonslungby ideazinfinite,I haven't gotten the chance to do Options 2 & 3 listed here: http://mbp-freeze.wikispaces.com/
but the Option 1 never caused the fail for me. Will try Option 1 again now... -
Mar 21, 2011 1:44 PM in response to ideazinfiniteby SkyFoxXP,Update to 10.6.7 done.
First test : Photobooth and 8x "yes > /dev/null". It freezed before upgrade, now seems to be stable.
I'm happy right now ! -
Mar 21, 2011 1:45 PM in response to SkyFoxXPby ideazinfinite,Thats great. If possible could you also run Method 2/3 and post results. I'm afraid I dont have access to xcode right now and can't test it.
On a side note, Method 1 never caused the crash to me, both before and after the 10.6.7 update. -
Mar 21, 2011 1:48 PM in response to ideazinfiniteby SkyFoxXP,I'm sorry I'm a total noob to Mac and xcode stuff ! Actually I'm a Windows expert for 20 years but a Mac OS switcher for 4 days ! -
Mar 21, 2011 1:50 PM in response to SkyFoxXPby ideazinfinite,no problem... expect someone would post it soon. -

Mar 21, 2011 1:55 PM in response to wonslungby ideazinfinite,Did you try the 1000 fish aquarium test on Chrome with Integrated Graphics only enabled?
Mine still crashes (after the update that is) -
Mar 21, 2011 1:57 PM in response to Adam Urbanby Luke Row,Yeah I'm downloading it too....... tell you if it works in "about an hour".
You realise the chrome test is a different thing entirely? It even states that it can crash systems.
Ignore that test please...

Mar 21, 2011 1:57 PM in response to Rensoomby HUS713R ON3,Just updated to 10.6.7 and am still having crashing. Was loading up StarCraft II with iTunes playing in the background and within seconds of logging in the graphics did their usual hard freezing act. Perplexed and annoyed. -
Mar 21, 2011 1:58 PM in response to ideazinfiniteby digimania,The fish test is flawed.
Can you force Integrated Mode and run xBench tests?
http://www.xbench.com/
Does your screen lockup with these tests?
