Mar 21, 2011 2:38 PM in response to ideazinfiniteby Chullo,I C. I'll wait it out and see if anyone has any updates with this, then probably do it myself to see if apple's taking the easy road here. -

Mar 21, 2011 2:52 PM in response to Chulloby John Harrold,Chullo,
It's good to see you back. In your absence I took the initiative and created this:

I still don't think it's the thermal paste -
Mar 21, 2011 2:53 PM in response to John Harroldby operaman1,Have you tested your machine since updating to 10.6.7? Things seem good here........................................................................... .................so far. -
Mar 21, 2011 2:58 PM in response to John Harroldby Chullo,Lol, hey John. I'm not sure either, but definitely something that was exacerbated by heat. I can say for a fact that my new machine doesnt get into the 90s on that smallluxgpu maxed out anymore. stops @ 90 and when the fans goes up to 6200, it drops to 80s. So my new machine probably has the same driver issue as my old one, but temps arent going anywhere near as high. I'm glad the scores are coming in the same, so i'll probably update this one as well to avoid the driver related problems.
very nice page you setup too btw.

Mar 21, 2011 2:57 PM in response to operaman1by John Harrold,I cannot test it because after I sent it in for repairs they said they wanted to "keep it as an example" or something. I have a new one coming. It left China today and should be here by Wednesday. -
Mar 21, 2011 2:59 PM in response to John Harroldby ideazinfinite, ensure that its a new and not a refurb -
Mar 21, 2011 2:59 PM in response to John Harroldby Adrian J.,I wish someone could just tell me why my fans only go up to 5500 instead of 6200. -
Mar 21, 2011 2:59 PM in response to Chulloby John Harrold,I just got it started. There's at least five or six other folks editing it. -
Mar 21, 2011 3:04 PM in response to Adrian J.by VTGolfer,It's a conspiracy we all setup to confuse you. You can't imagine how many PMs it took to get everyone on this thread to say their fans went up to 6200, instead of the true limit of 5500. -
Mar 21, 2011 3:05 PM in response to ideazinfiniteby Chullo, yup, that was my 1st thought. I see no wear and tear, serial number check says my complimentary applecare expires on June 18th (so i'm assuming it was made March 18 since its supposed to be 90days comp). I doubt they have refurbs going out yet though. -
Mar 21, 2011 3:09 PM in response to Chulloby ideazinfinite, yea great... Need advice here.. I'd run the test 1 from the wiki prior to the update and it didn't cause a crash.. I ran it after, no crash seen. Should I still go ahead and make sure the tests 2 and 3 run fine as well or am I safe? -
Mar 21, 2011 3:10 PM in response to Luke Rowby fastasleep,I never tried the yes > /dev/null thing before the update as I was able to get it to freeze just running other stuff, but am trying it now post-update and it's NOT freezing running 8 yesses* on top of a Handbrake transcod, iMovie playback, Photo Booth and FaceTime open.
* what does this command do, exactly?
