Mar 21, 2011 3:41 PM in response to Mesa Macby John Harrold,Hey Mesa,
I don't think the problem that is being addressed in this thread is associated with the 13" machines. There appears to have been an OS X update. It seems to have helped the people out here and if there is one for your machine it may help you also.
Barring all of that, you should contact applecare if the problem persists. -
Mar 21, 2011 3:43 PM in response to HUS713R ON3by HUS713R ON3,Went ahead and ran the AHT (Apple Hardware Test) and it found no problems with my installed 8GB kit (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145281). Next I'll reinstall my old 4GB to see if the crashing goes away. -

Running 1024x768 on 8cores + GPU, been about 5minutes so far no crashes. Can I be assumed safe now? -

Mar 21, 2011 3:54 PM in response to Rensoomby Horniasty,After 10.6.7 update:
mine is a little bit more stable - the AMD card doesn't freeze it instantly - but i DID crash it JUST by opening skype...
i have tons of weird white lines across the screen and I don't really know what to do know
does anybody think that they can just replace the gfx card under the warranty?
i don't have a real possibility to return it now... eh
update.. hurray ;X -

Mar 21, 2011 4:02 PM in response to Horniastyby Chullo,Get a new one, ensure you can reproduce the issue. Trust me they'll just hand you a new one or order it if it was CTO. Sounds like you got some heating issues like me initially. -

well i didn't have any heating issues, there isn't really no heat there it's just an idle system running at some 50's of cpu C
I bought the computer in Vienna, Austria and live in Poland, I was told by polish Apple support that i would have to return it back in Austria.. it can't really be done, i would have to do it by tomorrow and it just can't be done
does anybody know if i could just bring it to their authorized service for a replacement?
of the machine or just the GPU if it would be that which is faulty?? -
Mar 21, 2011 4:08 PM in response to Chulloby telefonique,I've got the 13" i7 and decided to run the smallluxgpu test for the **** of it , post 10.6.7 update. Can't say that I had any problems pre update as since purchase I haven't done anything to CPU intensive anyways. So far so good with the test though I'm curious, Should I be using the 1024 x 768 x 2 setting since I only have 2 cores?
Running it in this mode shows only 50% CPU usage in my iStat widget on the 13" i7, though the fans get loud of course as the RPMs sky rocket. While running it with the same settings on my core 2 duo iMac from 2008 shows 99% CPU usage in the iStat widget, and a minor increase in fan noise / RPMs... -

That doesn't sound right.
Applecare normally works no matter where you are in the world. -
Mar 21, 2011 4:10 PM in response to Rensoomby Horniasty,Now i tried to install this update on the second MacOS i had installed as a basic setup and it just froze after the install-restart.. still showing those weird lines and not doing anything...
i'm gonna get mad.. o m g
i'm just hopeless now and really gonna cry. -
Mar 21, 2011 4:11 PM in response to telefoniqueby telefonique,Nevermind I think I just realized the x 2 , x 4, x 8 has nothing to do with your CPU cores as running it x 8 definitely now shows 99% CPU usage in iStat readings -
Mar 21, 2011 4:12 PM in response to Horniastyby ideazinfinite,If it hasn't been long go return it quick... you're covered anyways.
