How to telnet tcp not udp

I have been given a set of IP addresses and ports to test our connection to another comupter. In terminal I enter the ip address followed by a space and then port:

Some of the ports are UDP and some are TCP/IP, but the client on the other end says we're only connecting via UDP. Is there a way to tell terminal to use TCP/IP instead of UDP?

Hey Beavis.

Thanks for the response. I did see those tutorials online, but they didn't really address the issue I was having - my issue is that a client is telling me I should be connecting TCP, but he says I am connecting UDP.

I don't see any way to change the protocol either with a switch or modifier in the terminal command.
