iPod Touch will not sync with iTunes - Windows 7 w/Service Pack 1

I recently updated my relatively new (December) HP desktop to the new Windows 7 Service Pack 1. Since then, I have been unable to sync my iPod Touch with iTunes. Once the sync is initiated, iTunes freezes and nothing happens. Needles to say, before I did that update, I did not experience these problems. I have removed and reinstalled all the iTunes and related software, as per Apple's instructions, and still no change. Does anyone know if there is a solution to this issue or if one might be coming from Apple?

Hello iTouch,

Try a hard reset of your iPod. Hold down the home and sleep/wake buttons until a red slider appears at the top of the lock screen. Sliding it will power off your iPod. Turn it back on and then try connecting it to iTunes.

That's actually a soft reset.

A hard reset requires you to hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together until the Apple logo appears on the screen.

Keep up the good work though. 🙂

Hi

I had the same problem but it's now fixed. Through trial and error I discovered it wasn't so much Win7, but a combination of Win 7 and Zone Alarm (free edition).

In the last week or two there has been an update for Zone Alarm and now it all works as it should.

The cure before was to turn off ZA before carrying out any installation of service pack and itunes, and make sure it was turned off to sync the ipod.

Hi

Just checked my Zone Alarm. The driver version on mine is different 9.2.031.000.

I didn't remove ZA, just shut it down, and checked in Task manager that it had shut down.

I then put on the Win 7 SP1, turned ZA off again, then installed itunes, restarted and shut down ZA again, then connected the ipod and started itunes. All has been running smoothly since.

Good news!!

Removing ZoneAlarm iTunes recognizes my iPod Touch 4g. There are still some problems, in fact iTunes couldn't sync the music library, but I hope it's going to be a easier task!

Thanks for the advices...

I'm downloading the new iTunes version, after that I'll try reinstalling ZA and see if they can coexist in the same Windows7 SP1!!

Thanks

S.
