Q: G4 Mini + ADC-DVI cable + 17" Cinema Display = no power-on from monitor?

. . . just wondering. Have I lost this particularly cool feature of the 17" plastic frame monitor? It was previously hooked up to a PowerMac G3 (mirrored drive doors) and I though this was a particularly slick capability. Is it lost forever, or is there something I can configure on the Mini? I was hopeful when I saw the cable required a USB connection (although I am annoyed that it takes up one of two USB slots), but thus far, no joy

Anyone know if this is something I can soft-configure?

G4 Mini 1.42, Mac OS X (10.4.6), 1 GB RAM / 60 GB 7200RPM HD / Pioneer Dual Layer DVD-DW

ADC (Apple Display Connector) has pins for power control of the computer from the display.
USB 1.1 on some older MACs could also power on the computer.

Newer Macs use DVI (or Mini DisplayPort) and USB 2. These cannot power on the computer, so there is no way a DVI to ADC adapter can support the power on function of the display's power button.

I was hoping that since you have to plug in a USB cable from the cable's power supply to the computer as part of the setup, there was something there, but I guess not.
